Paleo Chinese Chicken Salad Recipe

Do you fancy a nice chinese for lunch but also fancy a little salad crunch? Try this little beaut of a recipe, seriously, this paleo chinese chicken salad recipe is very moreish and tasty. I made this for the first time only yesterday and I can safely say it’s now on my lunch menu.

It’s very simple to make, don’t let the title fool you where you think preparing a Chinese meal will take your hours, it takes no more than 20 minutes to prep, make and serve.

I know generally you think of a lot of prep time to make a Chinese meal from scratch but not with this one. It’s very straightforward to make, the hardest part is checking your ingredients, it’s that simple to make.

Chinese Chicken Salad Ingredients

  • 2 cups shredded carrots
  • 1 head of a large Napa Cabbage, chopped into very thin strips
  • 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
  • 2 Tbs black sesame seeds
  • 2 Tbs white sesame seeds
  • 1/2 cup cashews – nuts are optional but I like the added crunch
  • 1 rotisserie chicken – torn into nice even shreds
  • 1/4 cup Tamari – I like to use tamari as it is a gluten free soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup white wine vinegar
  • 3 Tbs finely minced ginger
  • 3 Tbs olive oil
  • 2 Tbs Hoisin sauce
  • 1 Tbs Toasted Sesame Oil
  • 1 tsp Spicy Chili Oil
  • 1 tsp Sriracha or more if you like it spicy!
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 5 chopped green onions, green and white parts

Chinese Chicken Salad Dressing

In a small mason jar and lid add the tamari, vinegar, minced ginger, olive oil, hoisin sauce, toasted sesame oil, chili oil, sriracha, sea salt and chopped green onions. Secure the lid tightly then shake vigorously like your the lead singer from a heavy metal band. When you have finished your rendition of bat out of hell, you can set your creation aside.

Then pop the chopped cabbage, shredded carrots, cilantro, sesame seeds, cashews, shredded chicken, and enough dressing to coat into a large plastic bag. Seal it then shake vigorously again until well everything is incorporated.
